Final Three award winners of 2010 announced

Robert Cox
aged 22 returned from university and made a seamless return into mens cricket playing some outstanding cricket for the mens 4th team. Rob would like his award spent on some netting at ferme park to stop losing so many balls that cross the boundary and delay the game.

Harry Heptonstall (U15) wins the award for his much improved batting throughout the summer season. Harry would like the money spent on improved kit especially pads and gloves.

Finally Rose Matthews (U13) wins an award. Rose has really stepped up her game this season, making key contributions with bat and ball and in the field, both at U13 and U15 level. During the course of the year she became the first girl on North London's books to score 100 runs in a season, sealing the ton with a scampered two off the final ball of the final match. Rose's coach says that she is an absolute pleasure to work with, and it has been very satisfying to see the talent that she's always possessed really blooming this year.

First six award winners in 2010 announced

The first six awards for 2010 go to Joe Burke (U13s), Isobel Moffat (girls), Joe Higgins (U15), Finn Blythe (U15), Olly Greally (17) and Madeleine Issitt / Abby Riley (joint award) (girls) for outstanding contributions to club cricket. Certificates will be presented to both shortly. Each winner will decide how to spend £200 for the benefit of the club's young cricketers. Four more awards are due to be announced by the end of June.

Joe Burke is a natural athlete and despite only joining NLCC and starting cricket at U11, has shown constant improvement culminating in a very good winter indoor league series for the U13's at Lords and selection for the Haringey indoor team, where he scored 46 as last man in the defeat of City of London and took valuable wickets in all three games. Joe is developing into a true all-rounder with his pacy seam bowling and technically sound, patient batting. He is also a terrific fielder with a great arm. He is a joy to coach and happily takes and acts upon advice and suggestions to improve his game.

Isobel had an outstanding season in 2009. She made significant contributions for the Under 11 team and also, while only aged 11, the Under 13s. That team won the County league and Izzy was a key member of the team that then took part in the South Eastern regional finals, narrowly missing out on a place in the national finals. She also turned out for the North London Under 11As on a couple of occasions and very much held her own. In a busy season, she also captained her school to win the regional Kwik Cricket cup.

Joe Higgins received multiple nominations for some outstanding performances for the cup winning U15 side and the mens teams including an innings of 140 playing for the mens 4th XI, the highest score at the club in any form of the game this year

Finn Blythe has also made giant strides in colts and mens cricket in 2010. Finn Blythe made a maiden league half century (67) for the 4th XI, aged 15. Finn has also helped with coaching younger players on Sunday mornings.

Olly Greally has now become an established player in the mens sides despite being only 17, Olly has also made a significant contribution to coaching younger players.
Olly has regularly turned out on a Sunday morning over the past 2 seasons to help coach the U11 squad. Olly passed his UKCC L1 coaching badge last year and has shown high levels of committment to the Club and is also a regular Senior side player and a key player for the U17 team. later this year, Olly's big band is due to entertain the Club on a Saturday evening to raise Club funds.

The sixth award of the year is shared between Madeleine Issitt and Abby Riley (both aged 12) for their work on Sunday mornings and Friday nights raising money by working for the 'Colts Extras' fundraising team. Both these girls have shown great levels of committment to the Club. in transforming Sunday morning coaching sessions
