North London Cricket Club - Jack Petchey 2012

Award Winners
Seth Malick (13yrs)
has shown a strong batting and bowling performance in the indoor league and is continuing to improve, being the leading batsman this season. He also has to put up with Ilyas on the way home from training and matches and hasn’t been put off cricket yet.

Zila Jennings (13 yrs)
Is developing as a captain, has produced some great bowling and is an inspirational fielder.

Tommy Pegler (12yrs)
For his great bowling in the indoor league where he was playing with older boys, and his general enthusiasm shown in training, matches and ground force day.

Henry Tripp (13yrs)
He has produced some strong bowling and fielding in the indoor league, this season and representing Haringey in the London Youth Games. He is committed to training, playing cricket at any opportunity and supporting the club at ground force day.

Gayatri Gole (13yrs)
Having played a leading role in NLCC girls' outstanding 2011 season, Gayatri Gole's cricket has gone from strength to strength over the past few months.
Bowling at a seriously impressive pace, she has now taken on the mantle of opening bowler for the U15B boys' side and when playing in May against experienced women cricketers (including a member of the senior County side) was considered as fast as anyone in the current women's league set up. Her batting and fielding also continue to develop well.
While still only 13, Gayatri was selected in May for Middlesex U17s - an outstanding achievement.
Above all, Gayatri always arrives for training or matches with a smile on her face and leaves still smiling. She is an absolute pleasure to coach or play alongside and a very deserving nominee for a Jack Petchey award.

Miranda Cook (11yrs)

One of the best bowlers in the under 11’s league, accurate, fast and usually quite frightening for the opponents and their parents.
She is a girl that really “understands” cricket. Understands the rules, the basics and has a strong competitive streak. An intelligent cricketer too, explain something once, it’s understood and always with bright questions to follow. Work on something during training, such as “backing up”. Next game you see her doing it.

Ben Bolderson (15yrs)

Ben Bolderson (U15) wins an award for a maiden century in an academy match.

Patrick Tripp (15 yrs)

Pat had a great season with the bat for the U15As, including two knocks of 81 not out in consecutive games. He averaged 46.33 in a strong Div 1 of the MCA league. He also skippered the side, which qualified for the play offs.
Pat also appeared in most of the NLCC Shepherds Cot Academy games, opening the batting and averaging 36.00. Towards the end of the season, he stepped up to adult cricket and played for the 5th XI, again usually opening the batting and also keeping wicket.

Sophie Mulcahey (15 yrs)

Sophie has been a member of NLCC for 5 years,  coming regularly to training and being readily available to play in matches however far afield they may be.  She has doggedly kept wicket for the U13s and now the U15 girls’ squads, cheerfully uncomplaining even when taking a hit from a ball and always emerging smiling from her helmet, dripping in sweat at the end of the game.  She gamely trained alongside the U15 boys this summer which takes some guts as wicket-keeper.
Furthermore, she volunteered to help out with training the younger girls this year on several occasions and has already offered to do the same on a more formal basis next season.  Sophie has always tried her hardest, encouraged her team-mates and made a significant contribution to the success of the team over the years.
