Police robbery operation in Shepherds Cot

24 Mar 2015

Dear NLCC member,

You should be aware that the robbery squad is mounting a covert operation around the club and throughout the whole of Shepherds Cot. It needs you to be vigilant for your own safety and security.

Last Friday police working in the NLCC carpark said there had just been four scooter “snatch” robberies on Park Rd within the space of 15 minutes.  A teenage scooter gang has been targeting people walking along speaking on their mobiles, particularly iPhones 5 and 6. They drive up behind a victim, on the pavement, and snatch their phone before they know what is going on. They have been using the Cot as a drive-through getaway and to pass over stolen phones

They are asking all club members and users of the Cot to be extra vigilant and careful whilst walking along using mobiles. They do not want to cause a panic or alarm - the snatches have been non-violent up to now - and they wanted to assure us that they have been after the gang for a while and have them under surveillance etc. They have a full-scale operation in progress including helicopters, decoy “victims” and plain clothed police squads.

Please take care of your property and share this information with your family and others who use the club or Cot. You should report anything suspicious using the non-emergency 101 Police telephone number or reply to this email which will come to me.

Thanks,

Stephen Gardiner
NLCC committee.
