22 Aug 2016

Bob Pedersen has been honoured for his many years of service to the club with a Middlesex OSCA (Outstanding Service to Cricket Award), winning the Heartbeat of the Club award.

Bob was presented with his OSCA in a ceremony at Lord’s which the county says is a chance to say thank you to the volunteers who are crucial to the growth of the game and play an important role in making sure that cricket continues to thrive and flourish within the county at all levels.

The Heartbeat of the Club award recognises Bob's 15 years playing for the club - much of that time as third team captain, his last 10 years as club secretary, his tireless efforts as colts manager from 2005 to 2011, his continuing work with senior colts as a Level 2 coach, and his technical skills maintaining the club’s website for the last 10 years. He also ran the process that led to NLCC’s being one of the first clubs in the county to be accredited to the ECB’s Clubmark programme that sets testing standards for governance and management.

In 2010 Bob organised and participated in a 500 mile bike ride to raise funds for the purchase of the new clubhouse windows and the equipment shed.  He was also instrumental in getting some lacrosse teams to use the grounds during the winter to boost club revenues and clubhouse usage year round.

The awards ceremony was held during the second day of the Middlesex v Durham County Championship game and Bob and other winners were presented with their awards by former Middlesex and England off-spinner, Shaun Udal, Middlesex's opening batsman, Sam Robson, popped in to pass on his congratulations and pose for photos with the winners.

Robert Tripp who succeeded Bob as colts manager said: “His great legacy was in leaving a system of volunteers, coaches and managers to run teams. He is a pillar of wisdom and good sense whilst retaining a drive to continually improve the club.”

Bob said: “This award was completely unexpected and I was pleased to receive it on behalf of the many volunteers who contribute their time to make North London CC a well-run and welcoming Club”.

Congratulations Bob.
